Once the campaign kicks off, keep the community updated on the progress of the campaign and your recycling program by distributing this press release template to the media in your community. 

 

Letter to the Editor Template
A letter to the editor can be a great and easy way to get some attention on recycling. Use the sample to help rather than start from scratch.

Work with local media to get this opinion piece (op-ed) placed in your community and local newspapers to remind residents to recycle.

Newsletter Articles
There are many organizations in your community that have regular newsletters and may be willing to include information about your recycling program. Churches, newcomer organizations and environmental groups are just a few. Use the sample newsletter article and tailor it with your local information.


Homeowner Communications
Homeowner associations and organizations are a great resource for sharing information about recycling. Adapt the homeowner letter sample to your program and work with your local homeowner organizations as a way to reach residents.

Third parties can help you spread the word at low or no cost. Reach out to them and give them specific way sthey can be involved. Follow-up.
